These houses were commissioned as part of an ambitious new masterplan for the regeneration of Folkestone in Kent. The design is for a typical 'beach house' that wil be located on a large new area of shingle. They are intended to have the informatility of seaside living, an englicised version of the beach houses of places like Santa Monica in LA.

The houses are constructed from timber frames and organised around a private area of beach cum courtyard that brings light into the centre of the plan. The basic type can be easily adapted to offer two, three and four bedroom accomodation. The bedroom on the upper floor have the character of beach huts and offer panoramic views across the harbour and out over the channel.
