Entablature
Charles Holland Architects
This T-Shirt design was commissioned by the Architecture Foundation to help raise funds for their cultural programme along with others by the AOC and Interrobang.
The design plays with the conflation of classical architecture with ideaslised human proportions. In early Renaissence drawings, the profile of the Doric order was often depicted as being explicitly based on the upper part of the human body with mouldings corresponding to the chest, neck, chin etc.
Our T-Shirt consists of a single architectural line tracing a Doric entablature running from the shoulder down to the waistline. Printed onto fabric and stretched over our (often) less than ideal bodies, the line becomes playfully distorted.
