Charles Holland Architects

Linked to ongoing research into experimental and utopian settlements, CHA contributed a monthly think-piece to the Royal Institute of British Architects Journal.

Each piece looked at the geneology of a particular form of utopian spatial thinking,

tracing its history through notable examples and suggesting ways in which these might be relevant to contemporary issues and concerns.

The columns were part historical and part speculative. Each was illiustrated with a drawing exploring the ideas in graphic and spatial form. A number of these images are included here , from top to bottom: Industrial Utopia, Arts and Crafts, Theme Park, Utopia Rural Utopia, Self-Build Utopia and Nostalgic Utopia.

There is a link to read all the previous columns on the Writing page.
